There is nothing more difficult when it comes to building a Blog than getting the right exposure. For new Blogs such as mine and perhaps yours, promotion is far from outsourced, leaving us with the crude reality of having to spend a lot of hard work to get noticed or should I say read. A site that I have been using to help me to reach a wider audience is Spicy Page. Spicy Page is a web site dedicated to promoting web sites mostly in the do it yourself side of things.
Here is what makes Spicy Page a great promotional tool:
1) You can add your web site yourself. This is a good start, since a lot of social sites may consider your profile spammy if you happen to submit only pages from one or two domains.
2) It has community type features like all social sites including: groups, friends, messages and other goodies making it actually fun.
3) Spicy Page has a voting system that displays how many votes your page has received by other visitors including the one you can give your site yourself. If you get enough consistent votes your site even gets to the front page. You can guess what happens when a site appears in a big site’s front page for some time labeled as a top site. Lots of traffic!
4) You can claim ownership of your site.
5) You get a nice backlink to your site.
But, what is different about Spicy Page?
If you happen to be blogging this is where the fun starts. When you submit your website, after you claim ownership you are allowed to post the urls of your individual pages. Yes you can submit every post you have on your Blog for others to find and you are not spamming in fact, it is your job to post your links not anyone else’s. This has a few advantages if you consider the fact that you write the titles and descriptions the way you like. So here is the catch, don’t expect a thousand visitors from Spicy Page with just one submission or a vote. Judging from my personal experience the more posts you submit to Spicy Page the more chance you get at people finding your site within Spicy Page’s search engine. To tell you the truth, I have received far more traffic and page views from Spicy Page that from other big name social media sites, even more than Technorati, in which I have received none. So if you are looking to spice up your Blog a little, give it try.
