Google’s Digg Like Search Wiki is Just a Spam Magnet
Posted on | November 25, 2008 | 2 Comments
A few days ago, I was surfing Digg for something fun to read. I noticed an entry that said Diggoogle or something like that and it caught my attention. Seems like Google finally included Digg like voting on the search engine. You can use this function by using the search engine when you are logged in your Google account. If this new application will eventually become a ranking factor in the main index is something that nobody knows for sure. In my opinion, Google should not use this as a ranking factor. I mean, anyone can pay or even tell friends that have a Google account to up vote their site and down vote everyone else’s for the search term or, make some bogus Gmail accounts for this task. It is too early to tell what is the future of this new Google Wiki thing. But I can certify that Wikis for search therms such as mortgage, loans and anything that has to do with credit will be fun to watch not named, mesothelioma. Here is a look at the Wiki for the term: make money online. Just check the comments for this search term. The only spectacular thing that I noticed was that comment spam already hit the system. Just a small glimpse of the Search Wiki and you will know what I am writing about.
I gave an up vote to Josh Spaulding’s blog Ez Online Money as you can see in the snapshot. Josh gives excellent advice in his blog and his free reports are must read material. Just my personal opinion. But hey, isn’t it what this Wiki thing is supposed to be about? There are a lot of blogs out there that deserve to be there in that Wiki for this search term and I guarantee I am not referring to mine. It is up to you guys to decide who is in or out.
Have you used the Wiki? What is your opinion?
How to Find Profitable Niche Ideas Using Article Directories
Posted on | October 31, 2008 | 11 Comments
One of the most asked questions by people interested by the idea of making money online is how to find profitable niches. Finding profitable niches can be very hard if done manually. Some time ago I posted a creative way of finding niches that would be fun to build web sites about. While this creative way of finding niches may be suitable for building flagship or personal blogs, it may not be a good tactic for those that are interested in building websites with the “build, leave aside and profit” philosophy in mind. Here is an easy way of finding profitable niches ideas using article directories. This method can help you find high paying niches that are suitable for mostly any type of site model. Give it a try, the illustrations that this little how to guide has are real examples of results. No B.S. here. To help us in this process we will be using Google’s free Ad Words keyword tool
.
Visit an article directory of your choice. For this example I chose Article Dashboard. From my experience using article directories that use Article Dashboard’s software give the best results.
In the article directories home page, in this case Article Dashboard you will see the category list with its links to different article categories. It is important than the article directory displays links rather than drop down menus in order for the Ad Words tool to have better look at its contents and for this reason Article Dashboard and its offspring are the best for this job.
Now go the Ad Words tool and choose the “Website Content” option in the “How would you like to generate keywords ideas” box. Write the Url of the article directory or just copy and paste your way out of it. You can decide if you want the tool to follow links. I usually check this box but it is worth taking a peek at results with this option checked both on and off. Now hit the “Get keyword ideas” button to generate a list of keywords.
After you get your keyword list go to the options menu that says “Choose which columns to display”.
And choose the option “Show Estimated Avg. CPC” This option gives you an idea of the activity of how much advertisers are paying for these keywords.
You can select the column itself to have the keywords arranged by Avg. CPC in increasing or decreasing order to make research easier. Finally a nice list arranged by CPC. The complete list you get is usually longer than the one showed here. Lists that are shown here have been reduced for displaying purposes.
Want more keyword research fun? Enter one of the article directory’s categories and copy paste the Url in the Ad Words tool for even more unexpected profitable surprises. You will be amazed with the amount of profitable niches you will eventually find using this method.
After you pick some niches it is advisable to check for CPA offers to promote related to the chosen niches in addition to AdSense or other contextual ads. Market Leverage is great network with a lot of very good offers related to highly profitable niches be sure to check them out.
