Does your blogging platform’s search bar suck?

A few days ago while visiting Shoemoney, I read Jeremy’s post about Lijit. After noticing that Shoe had installed it in his blog I decided to give it a try. So here is my review of Lijit
What is Lijit?
Lijit is a search bar widget designed to replace a blog’s normal search bar while adding some raelly nice features to your blog. If you happen to be blogging and you are unhappy with how your search bar performs then this little search bar is for you. One of the most interesting features of this search bar widget is that it has a built in stat counter, something that would remind you of Mybloglog. It tracks page views, readers, traffic sources and even more. It even has a little map that displays what countries recent visitors are from coming from. The advantage of this search bar is that you don’t have to wait until the day is over to see what happened in your blog, stats are realtime if not at least almost.
Lijit not only displays stats but it also lets your readers find you on other social media sites, view your recent activities on these sites and see your bookmarks mostly like Mybloglog plus, you have the option to display small icons of those social sites which you use on top of your search bar for better access by readers, The Lijit search bar is also very customizable and lets you choose how it looks and how it behaves in your blog when your readers use it.
With all these great features I gave the original boring Wordpress search bar a kick and incorporated this widget as my search bar. If your using another blogging platform rather than Wordpress you still can use Lijit since it is like all similar widgets a small copy and paste script. Last but not least it sells for the special low price of FREE.
Have you tried Lijit ? What do you think of it?

Thanks for giving Lijit a try on your blog and for your kind words. In addition to telling you how many people are coming to your blog and what they’re searching for, Lijit also lets you know what searches return no results. This is wonderful information to have as a blogger because it shows you where you have a gap in your content and what topics you should be writing about.
If you (or any of your readers) have questions or feedback about the widget’s performance, feel free to send it my way. I’m tara [at] lijit [dot] com.
