Keywords are words that relate directly with your sites content. These words are fundamental in the whole SEO process. When keywords are used correctly they allow for better search engine placement therefore, increasing your traffic dramatically. The most important fact about them is their ability to deliver highly targeted traffic to your web site. There are many ways that keywords can be used to your benefit. I have included a list on some basic ways that you can implement these all important words to achieve higher ranking.

8 basic tips to rank better for your keywords

  1. Some keywords should appear in Meta description tags should also contain some of your most important keywords
  2. Create a meta keywords tag and remember not to repeat the same keyword more than five times
  3. When connecting pages on your site by inlinks use keywords in the anchor text that relate to the page you are linking to. For example, instead of describing the page you are linking to and creating a link that says enter here, try using a keyword that best captures the essence of the page you are linking in the anchor text.
  4. Some forums allow signatures and have no follow disabled in threads. Drop a few keywords in these signatures to build powerful backlinks. Note: Do not spam forums, become a part of the active community.
  5. You can find dofollow blogs with plug ins that allow a keyword or two in comments. Try adding some keywords or your blog title in the name area if the blogger permits such practice. Note: Comments should be useful, remember most bloggers delete useless comments. Read first, then comment something that adds value to the discussion.
  6. Use them as tags when using bookmarking sites or social media sites.
  7. When submitting to directories, include your most crucial keywords in your sites description in the submission application. Note: The description must look like one, do not try to list a bunch of keywords in the description box or the directory’s administration will ignore your submission.

Good advice - Choosing the right keywords to target is also important. Using a tool like Google Adwords - keyword tool - is a good idea as you can not only find out how many searches a specific term has but also how competative that term is and make an informed decision as to weather you can compete. http://www.moreniche.com has a free keyword research guide that can help more if needed too.
